The Procedure

The type of treatment advised by the medical aesthetics doctor will depend on each individual’s unique case of acne scarring.

Dermal fillers: generally used as a standalone method for milder cases and administered to acne scars in order to level depressions, giving a more even look to your skin.

Whilst fillers achieve immediate results, touch-ups are required every 6-12 months, depending on the patient and type of scarring.

Microneedling: microneedling uses small needles to puncture the skin, triggering the body to create a wound response and repair skin cells and create collagen.

Treatment is recommended before dermal fillers to elevate your skin for best results.

PRP: platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment is used to address several skin conditions, including acne scarring. Treatment uses the healing powers of a patient’s blood and is most effective when used in combination with microneedling.

The platelets found in blood are essential to the healing and growth of collagen and elastin, so when your own platelets are injected back into the body via PRP therapy, the healing process begins, repairing signs of acne scarring.
