“Botox is not Filler and Filler is not Botox”
Two of the most popular injectable cosmetic treatments given at Venus Aesthetics are Botox and Fillers. People who are not familiar with injectables keep wondering about the difference(s) between Botox and Fillers and which treatment can help them achieve their anti-aging goals.
Well, Botox and Fillers both have their own unique advantages and can also be used together to reverse the signs of aging. A combination approach can take years off your face with longer lasting results than Botox or Fillers alone.
The difference between these two lies in how the products work. Botox works by freezing the muscles underneath the skin. Fillers work by plumping up areas of the skin that have lost fullness due to aging.
Now let’s learn more about the difference…
WHAT DOES BOTOX DO? Botox is usually referred to as a communication-blocker. Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can’t contract and that makes wrinkles relax and soften. Lines caused by muscle movement like wrinkles are usually treated by Botox. Botox has both medical and cosmetic use but for the sake of this post, we focus on cosmetic (anti-aging).

Botox takes time to work, maximum results are expected to set in between 10 to 15 days and the effect lasts 3 to 6 months.
WHAT DOES FILLERS DO? Fillers of all types are used to contour an area, to fill a hollow, to create light and shadows. They do this by literally filling a space, deep line, hollow or crease. Fillers just like Botox are popular and are widely used by men and women alike for quick treatment and little to no downtime but fillers are known for giving instant results.

The effect of fillers last 6 months to 2 years or even longer depending on the product and treatment. Here at Venus Aesthetics, our fillers last up to months.
BOTOX OR FILLERS, WHICH IS BETTER?
Botox and Fillers are different products used to treat different problems on different areas of the skin to achieve different end results. From the image below (Fig 5), Botox is treating dynamic lines, while fillers are treating static hollows. We do often use Botox and fillers together, but one can’t replace the other.
Hopefully, this clears up your concerns about Botox treatments. The best way to determine which product would be best for you is to schedule a consultation with our professionals.
